Top 300 U.S. Architecture Firms of 2025
✕
Unlike the weather, fashion, and the price of gas, the upper ranks of RECORD’s annual Top 300 American architecture firms by revenue list aren’t all that prone to change. For the sixth consecutive year, Gensler and Perkins&Will have held their spots at the top of the list, at one and two, respectively, with Gensler reporting $1.86 billion in architecture revenues and Perkins&Will $720 million, based on 2024 data provided by the firms. Both figures represent increases from the revenues reported in 2024. Like last year, HKS reported the third-highest revenue of $662 million, up from $556 million. There wasn’t much movement either slightly farther down the list, with most of the top 25-placing firms—Jacobs, HDR, AECOM, Corgan, Populous, Stantec, CannonDesign et al.— either holding steady in the same positions or ascending or dropping a spot or two (or four, in the case of Perkins Eastman, which slid from 14th to 18th).

SOM, which experienced a seven-spot decline from 12th to 19th between the 2023 and 2024 rankings, held steady in the same position as last year. Kohn Pedersen Fox, which in previous years has moved slightly downward on the revenue trend, also hung to the same ranking as 2024 in the 21st spot. A modest handful of firms that did not appear within the list’s top 25 in 2024 managed to climb into it, including VLK Architects, moving from 39th place to 22nd, and LS39 Associates, which squeaked into the 24th spot from the firm’s previous position at 28. (Ware Malcomb and NORR both fell out of the top 25.)

More dramatic maneuvers were reported outside of the Top 300’s upper echelons. For example, Fentress Architects ascended from 112 to 58, JGL Architects leapt from 147 to 64, and TPG Architecture, ranking 241 in 2024, crossed into the top 100 in the 88th position. Some well-known firms that placed within the top 100 last year—Hastings, LMN Architects, and 2024 AIA Firm of the Year winner Quinn Evans, among them—slipped out of it. The AIA’s 2025 Firm of the Year awardee, LPA, ranked 28th on the list with $152 million in architecture revenue, up two spots from 2024.
