World Architecture Competitions: Last Light
World Architecture Competitions: Last Light

LAST LIGHT invites participants to propose a habitable lighthouse that re defines the traditional concept of the lighthouse through contemporary architectural language.
The project is expected to function not as a purely symbolic object, but as a spatial experience capable of being inhabited, explored and perceived through movement, light and time.
The lighthouse must integrate an observation space or viewpoint orien ted toward the Atlantic horizon, a luminous element that acts as a rein terpretation of the traditional beacon, and a series of designed spaces including a gallery, a temporary refuge and an area of contemplation.
The Site
Last Light is located southeast of the historic lighthouse of Cape St. Vincent, Sagres, Portugal, facing the Atlantic Ocean, on an approximate area of 2,430 square meters.
