OPPO find N5 foldable smartphone ‘opens like a book’

OPPO unveils the Find N5, the dubbed world’s thinnest foldable smartphone that opens and closes like a book. During the reveal in Singapore, the brand says that when closed, the OPPO Find N5 foldable smartphone measures just 8.93mm, which means it’s as slim as a pencil. It weighs as light as a coffee cup and comes with a contoured metal body for extra grip. Behind the foldable smartphone, OPPO Find N5 showcases its aircraft-grade fiber back. It also demonstrates its Cosmos Ring design, which is the ‘elevated’ casing for the Hasselblad Master Cameras.

The frame of the device is crafted from a composite of 7,000-series aluminum alloy. The cover display comes in ultra-durable nanocrystal glass, while its structural integrity features Armor Shield architecture. There are two color options available so far. The Cosmic Black has a frosted black finish with a mature matte black metal frame. The Misty White shines when its layered back catches the light, followed by the glint of its silver frame. OPPO says its Find N5 foldable smartphone is also the first waterproof device of its kind. It has passed IPX6, IPX8, and IPX9 certifications, meaning it can withstand water jets at extreme temperatures.

top film made of customized anti-shock elastomer material

The OPPO Find N5 foldable smartphone has an 8.12-inch screen when unfolded, and when closed, the single screen offers 6.62 inches of cover display. The brand says that its unfolded screen is ‘larger than some popular tablets on the market.’ The crease in the middle of the screen is narrow to lessen interruption. Its dual-shielded flexible screen includes nine layers. These different levels range from the thin stainless steel support plate and ultra-thin glass to a top film made of customized anti-shock elastomer material.

The screen’s clarity sits at 400 ppi with a 120 Hz refresh rate. The peak brightness is over 2,000 nits when displaying HDR content. The OPPO Find N5 foldable smartphone also combines low-flicker, 2160Hz PWM dimming that reduces fatigue caused by OLED flickering. OPPO also uses a 5000 mAh Silicon-Carbon battery for the device, which can make it last for a full day. The recent smartphone is both fast- and wireless-charging ready as well.

Cameras with lossless zooming for taking photos

For the camera, the OPPO Find N5 foldable smartphone combines an ultra-wide camera, a wide primary camera for all-purpose shots and lossless 2x zooming, and a periscope camera for far-subject photos and videos. The last combines a high-resolution 50MP sensor with a 70mm focal length. For photography professionals, they can turn on the Hasselblad Master Mode. Here, they have the full manual control and RAW capture. They can also record detailed HDR footage at up to 4K resolution, 60fps, with the Dolby Vision 10-bit video feature.

The device’s ColorOS 15 updates the AI system of the OPPO Find N5 foldable smartphone. With this, the user can enable three-app, full-screen multi-tasking as well as smart split screens. The device can also transcribe, generate summaries, and create action points based on a transcript of phone calls. Because of its Titanium Flexion hinge, users can fold the device at a 90-degree angle. When they do this, they see the keyboard on the second screen, and they can treat their OPPO Find N5 foldable smartphone as a mini-work laptop.
